Niacin, also known as vitamin B3, is required by the body to assist with over 50 bodily functions and processes. Niacin is necessary for helping convert food into energy, synthesizing hormones, repairing tissues, building red blood cells and maintaining skin, nerves and blood vessels.

Niacin is essential for healthy circulatory and nervous system functions. Niacin also plays an important role in the maintenance of the gastrointestinal tract and the stability of mental health. Niacin deficiencies may include sever diarrhea, mental illness and dermatitis.

Niacin is beneficial for reducing high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, assisting insulin in the regulation of blood sugar levels and improving circulation. In addition, Niacin may be used to help alleviate depression, relieve insomnia and reduce hyperactivity.
