One of the most difficult aspects of weight management is knowing when to quit eating, In our society, food is everywhere and portions are bigger today than they've ever been. Nature's Hoodia Formula may help you reach your weight-management goals for reducing your desire to eat and supporting a healthful appetite. Hoodia gordonii is a native cacti of the semi-deserts of South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Angola. There are about 20 species in this cacti family with the gordonii being the one that contains a natural appetite suppressant. Other products may contain the name 'hoodia' but may not necessarily provide the results you are looking for unless it is the gordonii species. The effects of this plant were first observed by a Dutch anthropologist in 1937 while he was studying the San Bushman of the Kalahari Desert. He noted they chewed on the stem of a specific variety of Hoodia to act as an appetite suppressant and thirst quencher before and during nomadic hunts into sparsely vegetated areas. The San, one of the world's oldest and most primitive tribes, call this plant Xhoba and have known it's properties for thousands of years. Besides alleviating hunger and thirst, Hoodia provides a state of mental alertness without the jittery feelings produced by the Western diet of caffeine. Hoodia sat on a shelf in a lab for almost thirty years when South African scientists at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) began studying it. Because Bushmen were known to eat Hoodia, it was included in a study of indigenous foods. Animals fed the flesh of the cactus lost weight, but otherwise suffered no ill effects.

How Does it Work?
Hoodia has been used for centuries as a food by the tribesmen of South Africa, to help hunters endure long hunting expeditions without food. Our product combines Hoodia gordonii with other natural supplements, to support a healthful appetite. Caralluma fimbriata is traditionally used in India as a famine food to curb the desire to eat. Dry apple cider vinegar appears useful in suppressing the desire to eat. Garcinia is thought to affect fat metabolism, and l-carnitine helps in the production of cellular energy. Gymnema, chromium, marshmallow root, and psyllium hulls, use as a part of the diet, all help to maintain blood glucose levels already within the normal ranage. The high mucilage content of marshmallow and psyllium also help protect the digestive system. The hypothalamus is the organ affected by the compound because it's the location of the nerve cells that sense glucose sugar. When you eat, blood sugar goes up because of the body converting it to glucouse and these nerve cells start firing which gives you a full feeling of having had enough to eat. The first human clinical trial, conducted by Phytopharm, was with a morbidly obese group of volunteers placed in a controlled environment, where the subjects could only read, watch television, sleep and eat. Half were given Hoodia and the other half, a placebo. Fifteen days later the Hoodia group had reduced their caloric intake by 1000 a day and suffered no ill effects. Keep in mind that as with any natural or chemical substance dealing with appetite, people can misuse the product. Hoodia provides an avenue of hope for those challenged with an overactive appetite resulting in unhealthy weight gain, but should not be used by those with eating disorders to lessen appetite when overweight is not an issue. Hoodia will not correct food choices. Cutting appetite doesn't mean people will select nutritious food for the calories they do consume. For some this means adding a multi-vitamin supplement and antioxidants to their weight loss approach, but the best lifestyle choice is to change dietary habits and eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains since a healthier diet will normally provide more satiety than one full of junk foods., so including healthy lifestyle changes of nutrtional food choices is wise.
