Has Nibiru Finally Been Found?

by Dr. Rita Louise

Zecharia Sitchin in his Earth Chronicles Series set the world on fire when he described in detail a 12th unknown planet in our solar system. Called Nibiru, he explains, based upon his interpretation of ancient Mesopotamian iconography, that this yet undiscovered planet lies beyond Neptune and circles our sun once every 3600 years. In short course, Nibiru quickly became associated with all kinds of things including Planet X, 2012 and the end of the world prophecies.

The name Planet X was first coined by Percival Lowell. Lowell is best known for his now disproven theories of the Martian canals. In the early 20th century he began searching for a planet beyond Neptune which would account for the discrepancies in Uranus's and Neptune's orbits. When Pluto was discovered in the 1930 scientists realized that this planetary structure still didn't account for the anomalies in Uranus's and Neptune's orbits. When Voyager 2 flew by Neptune in 1989, more precise readings of its mass were taken. Neptune's orbital "mystery" was solved and Lowell's theory of another planetary mass was discredited.

The term Planet X was then picked up by a Wisconsin woman named Nancy Leider. Leider claimed to be in direct communication with the extraterrestrials of Zeta Retuculi. During her communications with these grey aliens, she claims to have learned of a life ending event on earth - the return of Planet X.

Leider describes Planet X as being four times the size of the earth. When, according to the information she received from the Zetas, Planet X drew close to the earth, the earth would cease rotating for approximately 6 days. Then the earth would experience a pole shift which would lead to a virtual doomsday event. This event was scheduled to occur on May 27th 2003.

In the past year, leading scientific journals as well as publications such as Discover Magazine, CNN and Scientific American have all published articles about an alleged dark companion star to our sun. This proposed dark star or more technically speaking, brown dwarf star, called "Nemesis" was first hypothesized in the early '80. It has been the subject of debate since then.

A brown dwarf start is a star who's mass is so low that it never gets hot enough to sustain nuclear fusion. Instead of shining like our sun, they glow from the heat of their formation. Brown dwarfs fall somewhere in between a gas giant planet like Jupiter and a low mass star. Since they do not emit light, they often go unobserved by astronomers.

Theorists speculated that there had to be something out in deep space that is interacting with the comets of the Oort cloud. The Oort cloud is an immense spherical cloud surrounding the planetary system and extending approximately 3 light years, about 30 trillion kilometers from the Sun. Their calculations suggested that a planetary body the size of Jupiter or larger could explain the movement of comets. They also identified a number of gravitational anomalies that were appearing in the Oort cloud. Its gravitational influences would be enough to send a comet into motion and potentially in our direction.

A celestial body in the Oort cloud was first identified in 1984 by David Green of the University of Cambridge. At first, it was believed to be the remnant of a supernova. Later observations, however, revealed that the object was much larger than when it had last been observed. Scientists quickly realized that supernovas, unless they are very young, don't grow in size. The only other explanation for its change in size was if it were moving closer to the Earth. Brown dwarf, supernova, the jury is still out on this one, but there is evidence which supports the brown dwarf theory.

G1.9, as it is now officially called, is believed to be twice the size of Jupiter and appears to have planets or large satellites circling it. It is thought to travel in an elliptical orbit which extends far beyond the known planets on one end and close to Pluto on the other. During its 27 million year trek through the night sky, its location is said to be an indicator of strange celestial anomalies and increased comet activity. It is also theorized that its movement around the sun may be the cause of the mass extinction of life here on Earth.

In addition, the Binary Research Institute has suggested that our Sun is actually part of a binary star system which includes our Sun and G1.9. A binary star system is a grouping of two stars that orbit around a common mass or center and are gravitationally bound to each other. Binary star systems are common in our galaxy. Scientists estimate that at least one third of the stars in the Milky way are actually part of a binary or multiple star system.

The majority of the evidence to support our Sun as being part of a binary star system has been mostly theoretical, but then enter Sedna.

Discovered in 2003, Sedna is a small planet, a planet that is smaller than the size of Pluto. Sedna revolves in an elliptical orbit around the Sun once every 10.5 thousand years. According to astronomer Dr. Mike Brown from the California Institute of Technology "Sedna should not be there. There's no way to put Sedna where it is. It never comes close enough to be affected by the Sun, but it never goes far enough away from the Sun to be affected by other stars." It is believed that only the influence of another massive body on the outer edges of our solar system would account for Sedna's odd behavior.

Brown goes on to state when Sedna is close to the earth it would be brighter than the full Moon. He believes it would have been visible in the daytime sky for over 20,000 years. He speculates that the last time Sedna was this close to the Earth, the Earth was just coming out of the last ice age.

Is G1.9 the planet talked about by Sitchen or is Sedna a better candidate? Neither of them are on a 3600year cycle, so it is hard to tell.

Turning to 2012 theories, the length of time for one cycle as documented on the Mayan calendar is 5,125.36 years. This leads me to speculate that Sedna might be a better choice but the timing is still off if we are going by the December 21, 2012 date. Scientists, state that while Sedna is approaching the earth it will not be at its closest point for another 72 years.

Is G1.9 or the fast approaching Sedna affecting our planet. Doomsayers point to the recent increase in earthquake activity on the Earth as an indication of their affect. Are either of them the so called Planet X or Nibiru? It is possible but the jury is still out. What would be fascinating to me is if the Sumerians knew about it all those thousands of years ago.
